Loved the small intimate feel of the resort (only 41 rooms). We felt like we had the resort to ourself and were treated that way. Staff welcomed us by name the first morning we arrived at breakfast. The service was impeccable! From cold towels on the beach to anniversary rose petals and dessert to remembering our favorite drinks to surprising chef treats and “drink of the day” brought right to your beach/pool chair. Willie was our favorite beach/pool sever and knew what we wanted before we even asked! Our room and back porch with pool was as big as our house back home! Felt like we were in the middle of a jungle. The landscaping is natural and large tropical trees provided complete privacy on our back porch and outdoor shower.

We woke up every morning to the sound of whirring chainsaws and loud construction. Breakfast on the pool patio was a nightmare! More LOUD construction, hammers hammering and chainsaws galore. Ridiculous and totally annoying. This was supposed to be a peaceful vacation and instead we were on edge the whole time. Very unhappy, although the hotel grounds are magical and the staff is exceptional and very friendly. With the noise of construction we give the Viceroy a C- … with no nightmarish noise and nonstop construction it would have been an A+ We feel like we deserve a partial refund because it was NOT the relaxing getaway we envisioned.

This was our second stay, and it was even more amazing than the first. The rainforest vibe feels very private and secluded. The villas are very comfortable and well appointed. Our villa had a beautiful outdoor shower, private pool, plus a large bath inside, and the bed and furnishings were all very comfortable. The nature of the individual accommodations means there’s never many guests around. The service is exceptional in every area. The food is excellent also. And there’s almost never any children around! This is literally the only place we will ever stay on the whole east coast of the Mayan Peninsula.

The resort is beautiful. After having staying in Playa a few other times, I loved how quiet this location was. Our villa was completely private, and we were able to enjoy some peace together without interruption from staff, other guests, and more. Everything was comfortable, and built in harmony with the jungle. We saw monkeys and macaws from our plunge pool. The soaps they give you are incredible. The spa was beyond impressive, and I had probably one of the best massages I've ever experienced there. The facilities, food, and experience was top notch.

this place is outstanding. even if they charge 2000usd a night is totally worth it. all Riviera maya have this ridiculous prices, but this place is totally worth it. you have an amazing menu available all day. the drinks are make from scratch, the staff is constantly looking up to you. the room have a lot of wonderful details, from the outside shower, to the full mini bar.
